Address:
c/o Abbey Mill, Tintern, Monmouthshire
The Wye Valley Crafts Association was originally founded in 1986 to help combat the isolation felt by lone craft workers and to collaborate in selling members work. After a few years of renting temporary retail premises, usually Christmas shops in nearby towns, the Association found a permanent home at Abbey Mill in Tintern. This is a complex of shops, a licensed restaurant, fish ponds and a working water mill in the heart of the village.
The WVCA shop has been successfully run as a co-operative venture since 1992. With up to twenty crafts in one room, customers can be sure that all items are hand made locally. Although standards are high, prices are reasonable due to the way the shop is run with members taking turns to work in the shop, avoiding staff costs. There are demonstrations by members on Bank Holiday’s and often on other days as well.
We are always interested in being invited to shows, exhibitions etc and can provide a small marquee or use gazebo’s for outdoor events.
Our newest venture is to hold courses in Tintern village hall and details of these and other aspects of the Association can be found on our website www.wyevalleycrafts.co.uk The telephone number for the shop is 01291 689346.
