This year at Tintern Fete, our theme is Children's Literature. We will be honoured to have with us the Children's Laureate Wales, Eloise Williams. In her post, she aims to engage and inspire the children of Wales through literature and to promote a child's right to have their stories and voices heard.

If you would like to learn more about Eloise, why not take a look at
her website?
We are therefore delighted to launch our very own Tintern Fete Poetry Competition for Children.

It will be offered for entry in two age groups: up to 11 years and 12 years and older.

Here are some guidelines for entry.
  • you may write in Welsh or English
  • you should live in Wales
  • your poem can be as short or as long as you wish
  • you do not need to stick to any particular pattern, and you do not need to make it rhyme (although of course you can if you want to)
  • you can choose any subject
  • your own handwriting is absolutely fine but if you want to do it on a computer and then print it out or email it, that is fine too
  • by entering the competition you are confirming that the work is your own and that you agree to it being published for non-commercial purposes on this website and elsewhere at the discretion of the Tintern Fete Committee
  • please send your poem and attach or write on to it this information:
    Your full name
    Your address
    Your age
A contact telephone number if you have one
All entries will be read and judged by the Fete Committee and other invited judges and the winners in the two age groups will be announced at Tintern Fete on Saturday 27th June 2020.
We really look forward to hearing from you and to reading your poem.

Please make sure your poem reaches us on or before Monday 1st June 2020. You can send it by post or by email.
